Joseph has been working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health and behavioural difficulties for over a decade.
He is a fourth generation Pakeha New Zealander who grew up on the West Coast of Auckland. Joseph and his family are now based in Paihia and he has worked in Northland for over eight years.

Evidence Based Psychological Interventions
Joseph primarily works within an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, drawing on tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support practical change. He also offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as part of his therapeutic approach, particularly for clients working through trauma or distressing experiences.
Through assessment and treatment planning he can help you understand what is happening for you or your child and develop an individualised, flexible intervention to promote healing, growth and resilience.

Creative Arts Therapy
Throughout his career Joseph has enjoyed using creative arts techniques within his therapy. In 2022 he completed a postgraduate diploma in creative arts therapy at Whitecliffe College and now uses the arts as a stand alone intervention or as a way of delivering other therapeutic approaches, such as CBT or ACT.
Just talking is completely okay, if that is your preference. However there are many people of all ages who benefit from the use of creative arts in their therapy.

Adult sessions are typically one to one, while child and adolescent sessions typically involve a combination of one to one, parent only, and family sessions.
Supervision
With training in clinical supervision, Joseph has spent a number of years supervising psychologists and other professionals.

Meet with him to discuss parenting difficulties and develop plans based within behavioural, attachment, or emotion focused parenting models.
